An intimate and community building experience, this YTT is the perfect setting for those wishing to start their yoga teaching experience, as well as those looking to revive their practice or delve deeper into their teaching and asana. And remember, teacher training isn’t only for those looking to teach! It’s also a great opportunity to hone your personal practice and body awareness.

Come flow with us as we plant seeds, tend to our gardens, and work our way into the complex, but rewarding world of yoga. Upon completion, you will be able to register as an RYT-200 with the Yoga Alliance, and start your journey as a yoga teacher, if you so choose. Days will be full, but gratifying, and what better place to immerse yourself than our beautiful Smoky Mountain hideaway.

Training Basics

Training Dates:
7:00am Monday, June 14th, 2021 – 8:00pm Sunday July 11th, 2021

If you’re staying ONSITE, is highly recommended that you arrive at Flō Blue Ridge on Sunday June 13th, 2021 (after 2pm) to give yourself time to check into your room and prepare. Your lodging for the night of June 13th is included in each Accommodation Package. Similarly, for those staying at Flõ Blue Ridge, lodging is covered the final night of the training (July 11th), and all trainees must be checked out by 12pm on Monday July 12th, 2021, unless other arrangements are made for a longer stay. For those staying OFF-SITE, it is recommended that you book your Airbnb or hotel with at least one day on either end to give yourself time to arrive and unpack before the early morning start, and to pack up and depart without missing our graduation ceremony and final dinner. <3

Please read over the following pricing options carefully. The total cost of the training varies if off-site or on-site. Those staying off-site are responsible for finding their own lodging, and have the option of choosing 1 of 2 meal packages provided by Flō Blue Ridge or providing their own meals for the training.

Due to the rigorous daily schedule (available below), it is HIGHLY suggested that those attending the training from off-site lodging options still purchase a meal plan for either all three meals per day or just breakfast and lunch (and then go home for dinner). We are sorry, but we cannot do partial meal plans, and once the training begins, you will not be able to add a meal plan, since we hire kitchen staff before-hand. Funds for meal plans are due 2 months before the training begins (April 14th, 2021)

This training is open to ALL-LEVELS, however some proficiency in yoga (asana) practice is helpful in order to make the most of your time with us. We will be spending quite a lot of time on the mat, and discussing/practicing teaching, so we suggest at least one year of regular yoga practice for all applicants. Not sure if you’re the right fit? This schedule may vary on a daily basis, and there will likely be more free time on some days (either morning/afternoon) to allow for rest and relaxation, as well as short and helpful homework assignments. If everything goes smoothly, we will also structure in multiple partial FREE days (free time after morning class), where we can help you set up taxis to town and nearby attractions such as ziplining and river rafting.

We ask that students do not bring cell phones to class and please be on time to avoid delays. Some morning or evening studio time will be silent time to allow those with a meditation practice to create a calm and comfortable space.

Instructor Details

Meet Steph Gongora & Erin Kelly

Steph Gongora (@casa_colbiri) is a certified yoga and aerial teacher currently based in Uvita, Costa Rica. She completed her first formal 200-HR training with Meghan Currie, and continued to pursue an additional 300-HR training with Christina Sell at The San Macros School of Yoga. During her many years in Austin, TX, she regularly attended additional training and continued education with Erinn Lewis of Sukha Yoga, and recently started another online 200-HR study with Alanna Kaivalya. She regularly pursues continued education, especially surrounding Anatomy and Sequencing with Yoga Medicine, and other esteemed schools.

 

An athlete her whole life, Steph practiced gymnastics until high school, taught pole fitness during college (where she studied Biology and Chemistry), and started a serious daily yoga practice over three years ago. Her teaching style combines precise breakdowns of form and anatomical cuing with a creative flow style, stressing unusual transitions and authentic movements practices.

 

She has developed a deep love and respect for inversions of all kinds, which is what promoted her to write her first two books in early 2016 – The Beginner’s Guide to Handstand & The Beginner’s Guide to Handstand Pressing. She later added The Beginner’s Guide to Starting a Yoga Practice for those looking to deepen their personal asana exploration, and The Beginner’s Guide to Full Body Backbends.

 

Steph is happily married with five furry children and officially moved down to Costa Rica in the fall of 2016 to build  Flō Eco Retreat Center on the South Pacific coast. When Erin and Steph aren’t travel teaching elsewhere, they host most retreats & trainings at Flō. And when she isn’t doing yoga, she enjoys reading, writing, anything outdoors, writing more books (probably about more Yoga), and spending time with her (not so) little family.

Erin Kelly @erinkellyart is a traveling yoga teacher based in Venice Beach, California. She is known for her personal grace and fluidity of movement in both practice and teaching, and can often be found upside down or cultivating creativity through unusual transitions. Her teaching style is refreshing and playful, while still incorporating precise cues and pose breakdowns to help students understand the movements of their bodies and the path to personal growth.

 

She continues to develop a strong personal practice, studying various lineages, and consciously chooses not be defined by a particular school or style. Erin has studied under Megan Currie and is a regular in the LA yoga studio scene. She has also spent many hours training with Tearson Bickmore, as well as received extended hours in Dharma and Rocket under a Yancy Schwartz mentorship.

 

Erin has written for or been featured in Mantra Magazine, Yoga Guide Magazine and Yoga Journal, as well as made many appearances on national and international media sources. These days, you can find her focusing her time on creating unique, informative, and stimulating classes, workshops ,and trainings, often with her teaching partner Steph Gongora.

 

A true artist by nature, Erin received a BFA in Oil Painting with a minor in Art History from The Maryland Institute College of Art. She is passionate about the idea that if we open our bodies up physically, we can tap into all sorts of creative, emotional, and psychological breakthroughs. Whether it’s with a paintbrush in hand or just through body movement, Erin is continuously creating her own form of art and expression and believes we all have this freedom of expression.

Bianca Scalise (@bianca.scalise.yoga) is a Yoga instructor with a passion to help people. Her heart is on fire to share the healing and soul enriching practices of Yoga and meditation.

“After finding Yoga I felt an amplification in my enjoyment of life. Week by week I could feel my body getting so much stronger and more connected. The aches in my neck and back from my spinal stenosis were fading and now my body truly surprises me with all that it can do! Bianca studies Yoga all over the world. She recently completed a 500 hour certification program with Dylan Werner, with whom she also toured internationally for three months assisting intensives and workshops. Bianca is also currently pursuing an additional 500 hour program Yoga Medicine. She has attended specific trainings on the Shoulders, Spine, Myofascial Release, and Hips to learn how to encourage proper function and relieve pain. Sharing yoga is her Mission, Passion and Love!

Accommodation Details

Flō Blue Ridge - A Smoky Mountain Wellness Venue

Flō Blue Ridge is the new home of Authentic Movements in Marshall, NC (45 minutes north of Asheville). Just as many of you followed our adventure of building Flō Retreat Center (in Uvita, Costa Rica), we are asking for your support and trust with our newest home base. This 20+ acre homestead and sanctuary is located just outside the tiny artist town of Marshall, NC in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy miles of hiking trails with gorgeous views, comfortable and cozy shared lodging facilities, our amazing yoga barn, nearby attractions, and more!

The property currently hosts an insulated and converted tobacco barn that has been renovated (and will soon be decorated) for yoga use! Across the driveway (and tiny stream) an expansive herb field boasts a functional fitness gym that trainees will use for circuits and cross-training work with Strength & Conditioning Coach Anthony Difiglio. The shared dining area is the perfect place to have a meal with friends or catch up on some work between classes. More of a “loner” during your free periods? Walk the logging trails crisscrossing the property, visit the hilltop meditation deck to watch the sunset, or try out one of the smaller work stations for privacy. 

Steph, Dr. Ben, and Erin all live on-site (up the hill), and the property also hosts a green house (used for some of the Flō food!), goat and chicken pasture (which will hopefully soon have some furry/feathered friends), and in-coming shared lodging for Flō guests. We are opening up 10 on-site shared lodging spaces for the June 2021 200HR training. These 10 spaces will be in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a kitchenette and living area. There will be 2-4 people per room on a first come, first serve basis (bunk beds!). 

Should the desire arise for more on-site housing, and should we have time for permitting & construction of an additional shared residence, then another 10 on-site spots will open up. Preference will be given for the new spots to those who already signed up for off-site before they are advertised to the public. See below for house design and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions. Construction starts June 2020, giving us plenty of time to get our initial shared lodging up and running and ready for YOU!

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Erin, Steph, and Bianca are offering two (2) partial scholarship for this 200HR Yoga Teacher Training. The scholarships are for OFF-SITE spots and bring the price down to $1000 USD. Please not this does NOT include lodging, meal plan, transport, just the training itself.

We understand that life happens and things change. We will do our best to be flexible, however, the closer the cancellation is to the actual start date, the less likely it is that we will be able to fill your space. Since we have already paid for the training, we are committed, and late cancelled rooms would mean payments out of our pockets.
